Close the other nostril with a finger and lean your head slightly forward. Spray into the nostril, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. After spraying, lean your head backward for a few seconds. If more sprays are prescribed, repeat in the same nostril. Then repeat for the other nostril if so directed. Avoid blowing your nose for 15 minutes after using the medication. Avoid spraying the medication into your eyes or onto the middle of the inside of your nose (nasal septum).After each use, wipe the spray tip with a clean tissue and replace the protective cap. If the spray tip becomes blocked, do not try to unblock the nasal applicator by using a sharp object. Look at the instructions on regular cleaning of the spray bottle.Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. This medication works best if used at even intervals. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Do not increase your dose, use this more frequently, or stop using this medication without first consulting your doctor. Dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and response to therapy. Your doctor may lower your dose once you have had a response to the medication. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.This medication does not work immediately. Some people will feel this medication working within 2 days, but it may take up to 2 weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.Keep track of the number of sprays used from each container. After taking the last tablet in your old pack, start a new pack the next day. There is no break between packs, and there are no "reminder" tablets (tablets without medication). Most women do not have regular periods while taking this medication. You may have some bleeding or spotting. If this happens, do not stop taking your pills.If you vomit or have diarrhea within 4 hours after taking this medication, you may need to use a back-up method of birth control. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens over the next two weeks.When using to prevent malaria, this medication is usually taken once daily. Take the first dose of this medication 1-2 days before travel to an area where you may be exposed to malaria, or take as directed by your doctor. Continue to take this medication daily while in the malarial area. Upon returning home you should keep taking this medication for 4 more weeks. If you are unable to finish this course of doxycycline, contact your doctor.If this medication is being used to prevent malaria, it is important to understand that it is still possible to get the disease even if you have used this medication. Ranitidine is used to treat ulcers; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus); and conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Over-the-counter ranitidine is used to prevent and treat symptoms of heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach. Ranitidine is in a class of medications called H2 blockers. It decreases the amount of acid made in the stomach.Ranitidine comes as a tablet, an effervescent tablet, effervescent granules, and a syrup to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day at bedtime or two to four times a day. Over-the-counter ranitidine comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once or twice a day. To prevent symptoms, it is taken 30-60 minutes before eating or drinking foods that cause heartburn. Follow the directions on your prescription or the package label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take ranitidine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Dissolve ranitidine effervescent tablets and granules in a full glass (6-8 ounces) of water before drinking.Do not take over-the-counter ranitidine for longer than 2 weeks unless your doctor tells you to. If symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach last longer than 2 weeks, stop taking ranitidine and call your doctor.Ranitidine may be added to an intravenous fluid that will drip through a needle or catheter placed in your vein for 15-20 minutes, one to four times a day. Amlodipine is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). Amlodipine is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard. It controls chest pain by increasing the supply of blood to the heart. If taken regularly, amlodipine controls chest pain, but it does not stop chest pain once it starts. Your doctor may prescribe a different medication to take when you have chest pain.Atorvastatin is used together with lifestyle changes (diet, weight-loss, exercise) to reduce the amount of cholesterol (a fat-like substance) and other fatty substances in the blood. Atorvastatin is in a class of medications called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body.Buildup of cholesterol and other fats along the walls of the blood vessels (a process known as atherosclerosis) decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body. Lowering blood levels of cholesterol and other fats may help to decrease your chances of getting heart disease, angina (chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks. In addition to taking a cholesterol-lowering medication, making certain changes in your daily habits can also lower your cholesterol blood levels. You should eat a diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol (see SPECIAL DIETARY), exercise 30 minutes on most, if not all days, and lose weight if you are overweight. Atorvastatin comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Take atorvastatin at around the same time every day. Amlodipine comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. To help you remember to take amlodipine, take it around the same time every day.

Nifedipine is used to treat high blood pressure. It relaxes your blood vessels so your heart does not have to pump as hard. It also increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart to control chest pain (angina). If taken regularly, nifedipine controls chest pain, but it does not stop chest pain once it starts. Your doctor may give you a different medication to take when you have chest pain.Nifedipine comes as a capsule and an extended-release tablet (long-acting) to take by mouth. It is usually taken one or three times a day. The extended-release tablet should be taken on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, and should be swallowed whole. Do not chew, divide, or crush the tablet. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
